We’re thrilled the Zeitspace team has been growing! Kedice Jones has joined us as a UX designer. Learn more about Kedice — and why she thinks you should invest in a better yoga mat — in our latest welcome post.

Why UX design?

As an individual with many different interests and a passion for learning, UX Design was the space I recognized where there wasn't a monogamous approach to learning. In parallel to my deep curiosity, I’ve always appreciated the concept of “innovation” since it improves how people function. With technology being a personification of this, I enjoy being introduced to different disciplines that allow me to learn something new and create something that helps people in everyday life.

What kind of design do you like? Mobile? Web? Something else?

Since I spend more time on my laptop than my phone I find myself admiring designs on web applications. Being a big idea person, I think there are more possibilities I can design on a web application than a mobile device. Thinking about it now, I see why phones have become larger over the past year. If I do upgrade from my iPhone 8 to a plus phone, I might have more affinity for mobile design.

Recommend one thing (maybe a book, movie, album, TV show, physical experience...) Why?

If you are interested in yoga, get a yoga mat that is extra long, with thick foam and has body alignment markers. I know this sounds like a Starbucks order, but I used to do yoga on a regular yoga mat and I had issues committing to a daily practice since I preferred to stay in bed. Investing in a yoga mat that has proper support and alignment markers can encourage you to be on the mat and do poses correctly.

What's your favourite new (or old) discovery in Waterloo Region?

I haven’t been to Waterloo yet, but I do look forward to trying out their transit system and exploring the community.

Share a cool thing that folks might like to know about you.

For cleaning or organizing I follow the KonMari Method. I find this method helps me manage cleaning without the stress and appreciate the items I have.
