Welcome to Zeitspace, Brent Lintner

We’re as pleased as we could be to announce that Brent Lintner has joined our team as a software engineer. Here’s a chance to meet Brent through our now-standard questions, and to read about his favourite new (old) discovery in Waterloo Region.

Why software development?

I went to a fairly small high school, but there was enough student interest for a single grade 10 intro class, and after writing a 30-page long implementation of Blackjack in Turing, I was hooked.

Now I try to find ways to write as little code as possible when solving problems. Succinctness is the path to maintainability!

What kind of development do you like? Mobile? Web? Something else?

I started out doing a lot of web development early on. Nowadays I find myself mostly interested in how to effectively develop and maintain any type of software. If it can be continuously integrated and properly tested, I’m game.

Recommend one thing (maybe a book, movie, album, TV show, physical experience...) Why?

Anything by Jimi Hendrix. I love how he channels his music in a beautifully implicit and emotional way. It also reminds me of the most important lessons I learned playing musical solos. It’s not about the mistakes you make, or how far out you go, but how you bring it all back.

I suppose you can apply that to software as well!

What's your favourite new (or old) discovery in Waterloo Region?

Ethel’s Lounge. The food is surprisingly awesome.

Share a cool thing that folks might like to know about you.

I have a cat and she is the coolest. Hi Olivia!
