We’re excited to report that Max Besco has joined the Zeitpace team as a software engineer. We asked Max a few questions for this post, and after careful contemplation he sent us some answers.

Why software development?

Software development is a field where creativity and brevity are absolutely necessary. There are often multiple ways to find a solution through software that can only be found after struggling, and learning. This constant back and forth between learning, and solving problems is what keeps me so interested everyday with software development.

What kind of development do you like? Mobile? Web? Something else?

I think all types of development are interesting, with some fields like security, and operating systems being particularly cool for me.

Recommend one thing (maybe a book, movie, album, TV show, physical experience…) Why?

If you haven’t heard of Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ album, that should be the next thing you listen to. 10 very solid tracks, with an insane intro, and a hauntingly beautiful outro, the whole album is great.

What’s your favourite new (or old) discovery in Waterloo Region?

Lazeez Shawarma is absolutely incredible. Get the Lazeez on the rocks with half & half (fries and rice), it’ll blow your mind. The spicier sauces are really good if you’re up for it too.

Share a cool thing that folks might like to know about you?

I grew up playing piano, then switched to guitar at 14, then started making electronic versions of songs I liked. I’ve been making electronic music off and on since then, and am just about to hit 10k streams on Spotify!
